This class is NOT about learning how to burn photorealistic animals. I don't do realism. 

You're going to learn how I do animals in my style and you're going to get a step-by-step breakdown of what I look for when analyzing animal reference photos, how I choose what details to include, why and how I choose which textures to use, and how I put it all together to get my animals!

This is a complete online woodburning class with virtual materials, reference photos, a complete recording, and all the resources you will need.

1: See how I analyze reference photos

Not all reference photos are good. I'll show you how I pick my references and what I look for when browsing the internet.

2: Learn how I do fur

Fur is hard. I know, I get it. That's why I'm not a realism artist. I do fur textures in my own way and I'll teach you how I capture these fur textures on different animals.

3: You'll get to do a bird.

We're going to be looking at a female Indigo Bunting.

4: You'll get to do a bear face.

This fuzzy black bear will definitely make you wonder "If not friend, why friend-shaped?"


5: You'll get to do a dog portrait.

This might end up being the fan favorite because everyone wants to know how to do pet portraits. Pet portraits can be as simple or as detailed as YOU want them to be. If you're looking to monetize your pet portrait skills then this might be your lucky day.

6: You'll get to do a dragonfly.

A dragonfly might seem random, but there's a method to my madness. You'll learn how I add details to little insects like this and how I do wing textures.

7: You'll learn what textures I use and why I use them.

Everyone has their preferred nibs and go-to style, but seeing how I do my textures and learning the WHY behind them will inspire you to try new things.
